Our Academic Partners

Our academic partners help us to achieve our mission of expanding access to higher education around the world. With their resources and commitment to education PROWIBO is able to expand our summer schools each year and continue to connect students and lecturers from around the world. 

African Rural University, Uganda

Founded in 2009 by the Uganda Rural Development and Training Programme (URDT), the African Rural University (ARU) serves to empower young women of rural communities through education and skill development, so that they can serve as leaders and innovators in their communities. PROWIBO first partnered with ARU in 2017, which launched our first all-female program and we have been fortunate enough to renew our partnership with ARU for the 2018 and 2019 program cycles.

Fourah Bay College, Sierra Leone

Fourah Bay College (FBC) was founded in 1827 in Freetown, Sierra Leone. This historic institution was the first modern higher education institution in sub-Saharan following the decline of Timbuktu. Sometimes referred to as the Athens of West Africa, FBC is an affiliated body of the University of Sierra Leone and offers degrees in the departments of of the Arts, Engineering and Architecture, Pure and Applied Sciences, Social Sciences and Law. PROWIBO launched its first program at Fourah Bay College in 2016 and we have been delighted to renew our partnership for three years straight.

Institute of Public Administration and Management, Sierra Leone

The Institution of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) was founded in 1980 in Freetown, Sierra Leone and, like FBC, it is affiliated with the University of Sierra Leone. IPAM provides students with a well-rounded list of degrees, offering courses in banking and finance, accounting, information systems and technology, business administration, entrepreneurship and governance and leadership. In July of 2018, PROWIBO launched its first summer school program at IPAM, which Law and Ethics, Global Finance, Public Health, and International Relations and Politics.

Karamat Husain Muslim Girls P.G. College, India

The Karamat Husain Muslim Girls College was established as a degree college in 1946 after 40 years of institutional evolution beginning as a school consisting of six girls in 1912, transforming to a high school in 1924, and upgrading Inter College in 1936 before reaching its current status. The core mission of the college is to provide young women with opportunities for skill development and empower them to confront issues, such as social sensitivity and environmental consciousness. PROWIBO launched its first program in India at the Karamat Husain Muslim Girls P.G. College in 2018 with the help of our implementation partner, the Alhambra-U.S. Chamber. In just one year we have renewed our partnership with Karamat and extended our program to a second all-female college in Lucknow.

Richmond the American International University in London, U.K.

Richmond the American International University in London is PROWIBO’s first academic partner in the U.K. Through our partnership, Richmond has provided PROWIBO with communications and marketing support as well as connected PROWIBO with qualified Richmond students to join the PROWIBO team interns. We would like to extend a special thanks to Sam Brooker and the students at Richmond helped PROWIBO develop and improve our online presence through their work on our website. 

Srinakharinwirot University, Thailand

Srinakharinwirot University was founded in 1974. The philosophy of the university is to utilize higher education to promote growth in five key areas: faith (self-awareness), sacred precepts (ethics), attentiveness (continuous learning), abandonment (generosity), and wisdom. PROWIBO first formed its partnership with SWU in 2017. We renewed our partnership with SWU for the 2018 program cycle and have partnered with SWU to host our first academic conference in Asia at their campus in Bangkok as well as a third summer school program in 2019.
