African Rural University
Founded in 2009 by the Uganda Rural Development and Training Programme (URDT), the African Rural University (ARU) serves to empower young women of rural communities through education and skill development, so that they can serve as leaders and innovators in their communities. ARU’s methodology consists of the visionary and creative approaches, which allow students to serve as the main actors within the development process and utilize critical thinkings skills to ensure sustainable approaches to rural development.
Our programme at ARU will run from August 16th until August 29th. Our team will include Andreas, Kasia and Alisha, who will be offering courses in community conflict resolution in Africa, advocacy and NGOs and the circular economy, respectively.
Avadh Girls’ P.G. College
Avadh Girls’ P.G. College is an all-female higher education institution in Lucknow, India. It was founded by the Loreto Convent in 1958; however, it was placed under the jurisdiction of the Avadh Educational Society in 1975. The college contains an impressive academic catalogue complete with a nationally recognized Faculty of Commerce. Moreover, the college not only pushes its students to strive for academic excellence, but it also allows them to transform into active members of the community. The college requires that each student become a member of three compulsory school clubs: social service, sports, and entertainment.
Our programme at Avadh will run from August 24th until September 4th.
Institute of Public Administration and Management
The Institution of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) was founded in 1980 in Freetown, Sierra Leone and is affiliated with the University of Sierra Leone. IPAM provides students with a well-rounded list of degrees, offering courses in banking and finance, accounting, information systems and technology, business administration, entrepreneurship and governance and leadership.
Our programme at IPAM will run from July 27th until August 7th. Our team will include: Charlie, Oliver, Manal, Rachel and Majeks. The programme will offer courses in finance, epidemiology, health & business, and law.
Lycée Malick SY de Thiès
Lycée Malick SY de Thiès is one of the first secondary schools in Senegal, it was created in 1965. Lycée Malick SY offers students the opportunity to complete their French Baccalaureate alongside learning foreign languages such as Spanish, Portuguese, German and Arabic. Additionally, students benefit from a diverse physical education program with 3 football playgrounds, 2 basketball fields, 2 handball fields, a Senegalese Wrestling arena and a gymnasium on campus. Moreover, Lycée Malick SY allows other schools to utilise their physical education facilities due to the lack of space and facilities within those schools.
Nadine will be facilitating the programme at Lycée Malick SY de Thiès this August.
Srinakharinwirot University was founded in 1974. The philosophy of the university is to utilize higher education to promote growth in five key areas: faith (self-awareness), sacred precepts (ethics), attentiveness (continuous learning), abandonment (generosity), and wisdom. The university began with six faculties the Faculty of Education, the Faculty of Humanities and Science, the Faculty of Social Science, the Faculty of Science, the Faculty of Physical Education, and the Graduate School.
We will be returning to Thailand this August with our lecturers, Carola and Anna. They will be teaching courses in negotiations for problem-solving and communications for impact, respectively.
University of Lagos
Founded in 1962, the University of Lagos has a legacy of academic excellence. Regarded as “the University of First Choice”, the university has twelve faculties namely: Arts, Basic Medical Sciences, Business Administration, Clinical Sciences, Dental Sciences, Education, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Law, Pharmacy, Science, and Social Sciences. Moreover the university’s Distance Learning Institute offers courses in Accounting, Business Administration, Science Education and Library / Information Sciences. In addition to an impressive academic catalog, UIL has two notable research institutes– the Centre for Human Rights and the Centre for African Regional Integration and Borderland Studies.
Our programme at UIL will run from August 10th until August 15th. Our team includes: Charlie, Georgiana, Majeks, and Rachel. The programme will include courses in finance, peace and conflict studies, business law, and skill development.
