African Rural University
Founded in 2009 by the Uganda Rural Development and Training Programme (URDT), the African Rural University (ARU) serves to empower young women of rural communities through education and skill development, so that they can serve as leaders and innovators in their communities. ARU’s methodology consists of the visionary and creative approaches, which allow students to serve as the main actors within the development process and utilize critical thinkings skills to ensure sustainable approaches to rural development.
We are excited to go be returning African Rural University in Uganda for our third summer school. We will be sending three professors to the university to teach courses in entrepreneurship, communications and innovation and design thinking.
Our team this year includes Rachel, Suzanne and Akbar who will be teaching courses on communications and innovation, design thinking, and entrepreneurship.
Avadh Girls’ P.G. College
Avadh Girls’ P.G. College is an all-female higher education institution in Lucknow, India. It was founded by the Loreto Convent in 1958; however, it was placed under the jurisdiction of the Avadh Educational Society in 1975. The college contains an impressive academic catalog complete with a nationally recognized Faculty of Commerce. Moreover, the college not only pushes its students to strive for academic excellence, it allows them to transform into active members in the community. The college requires that each student become a member of three compulsory school clubs: social service, sports, and entertainment.
We are excited to launch our first program at Avadh that features returning lecturer Georgianna, who will be teaching a course of policy advocacy.
Institute of Public Administration and Management
The Institution of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) was founded in 1980 in Freetown, Sierra Leone and is affiliated with the University of Sierra Leone. IPAM provides students with a well-rounded list of degrees, offering courses in banking and finance, accounting, information systems and technology, business administration, entrepreneurship and governance and leadership.
For our 2019 Summer School in IPAM, we are sending five lecturers to teach a comprehensive program featuring courses in finance, criminology, psychology, law and communications. Our Co-founder and Director of Operations Majeks who has taught and practiced law since 2004 will be teaching the law course. Charlie D., a PROWIBO veteran lecturer, will be returning to Sierra Leone for the third year to teach a course on Finance for Africa. Joining Majeks and Charles will be George teaching criminology, Mark teaching psychology and Charlie W. teaching Communications.
Srinakharinwirot University was founded in 1974. The philosophy of the university is to utilize higher education to promote growth in five key areas: faith (self-awareness), sacred precepts (ethics), attentiveness (continuous learning), abandonment (generosity), and wisdom. The university began with six faculties the Faculty of Education, the Faculty of Humanities and Science, the Faculty of Social Science, the Faculty of Science, the Faculty of Physical Education, and the Graduate School.
We are glad to be back for our third summer school in Bangkok, Thailand! Tessy our Co-founder and Director of Logistics and returning lecturer Rachel will be working with SWU teaching courses in sustainable development goals and communications.
Karamat Husain Muslim Girls College
The Karamat Husain Muslim Girls College was established as a degree college in 1946. The core mission of the college is to provide young women with opportunities for skill development and empower them to confront issues, such as social sensitivity and environmental consciousness. In addition to an impressive course catalogue, the Karamat Husain Muslim Girls College has a vibrant sports program featuring N.S.S, Hockey, Javelin, Badminton, Shot-put, Basketball, High Jump, Long Jump.
